Programs Qualified for The Work Number’s Social Services Service
- The Work Number offers discounted rates to clients in the public sector that administer Social Services programs, such as
- TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, formerly AFDC)
- Food Stamps
- General Cash Assistance
- Medicaid
- Child Support
- Public Housing
- Any Federal Government program administered by the following:
- Social Security Administration
- Department of Veteran’s Affairs
- Department of Housing & Urban Development
- Department of Welfare
- Departments of Human/Social/Health Services
- Department of Justice
- Department of Corrections
- Public sector agencies use The Work Number in order to determine program eligibility, track program benefits, support quality control, and investigate fraud. All states, counties and or cities in the United States manage various "economic self-sufficiency" programs to administer federal, state or local public assistance funds to low-income families and individuals.*
*Third party providers under "privatization" contracts with the federal, state, county and/or city agency may also qualify to use this service.
The Work Number CANNOT fulfill the following types of requests:
Unemployment Insurance Claims Forms
The Work Number does not include enough data on its verifications to satisfy unemployment insurance claims forms (I.e. “Reason for Termination). However, The Work Number is currently investigating its ability to expand its verification to fulfill these verification requests on behalf of Employers.
Workers’ Compensation Claims
The Work Number does not support workers’ compensation claims.
Short-term/ Long-term Disability Insurance Claims
The Work Number does not support disability insurance claims.
Wage Garnishment & Subpoenas
The Work Number does not process wage garnishments or answer subpoenas on behalf of its employers. These forms can only be handled by the Employer.
Private Law Firms
Private law firms engage in obtaining information individually, or under contract with a federal, state, county and/or city agency are eligible to access information from The Work Number using our Commercial Verifier services. Learn more about these options. |
