| Executive Summary |
|
The Food & Nutrition Unit Manager for Georgia Department of Human Services discusses measures the state implemented to boost payment accuracy in its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Georgia’s SNAP program (known as food stamps in some states) rose to 3rd most accurate in the nation in 2008 thanks to a series of reforms in review, training, and intake methods as well as the addition of The Work Number for immediate access to employment and income data. In addition, Georgia was able to expand its application review process and handle a surge in applications thanks to other improvements to its intake and interview process to make workers more efficient.
